Project overview

Wejo Studio provides a suite of digital products that provide 100% accurate insights from unique journey data, taken from millions of connected vehicles, to help visualise traffic behaviour and journey details for a given date and time. These products provide a deep understanding of mobility trends, enabling organisations across the globe to make better informed decisions, innovate and solve problems more effectively.

I led discussions and the design process from start to finish to determine content hierarchy, user journeys, wireframes through to brand creation, UI and implementation of a design system.

Discovery and research

The initial stage of the project was to work closely with key stakeholders including Wejo’s internal Business Analyst, development and product teams to gain a deeper understanding of their vision and close the knowledge gap regarding its market, customers, and broader product strategy. We then ran multiple UX workshops with Wejo’s team defining the foundations of an intuitive suite of user flows and journeys, addressing the most important tasks.

• User interviews and workshops
• Information architecture based on user needs and behaviour
• User flow definition
• Identified key users, tasks and priorities

From the workshops we then developed user journeys, wireframes and functional requirements, then applied these to a structure and information architecture. We then built a prototype in Adobe XD and implemented a flexible testing strategy – ensuring feedback fom a variety of users was captured in a consistent format.

The result

From the feedback we were able to open up a number of valuable discoveries based on real data and observations, this allowed us to easily identify and prioritise the main pain points in the overall journey and create a clearer pathway and improved functionality.

We then created a UI design layer that reflected Wejo’s brand values and complemented our UX design recommendations. The final output of design resulted in a modern, fresh feel with a clear visual language and clean custom assets helping to articulate product features.

Jakes creativity is infectious and has really benefited the digital projects that we have worked on together, helping us to always reach a greater end result. He has the fantastic ability to take any brief, and simplify it’s objectives by simply talking to the right people, and asking the right questions.
