Project overview

The Moneypenny small business phone app transforms your mobile into a feature rich business phone system whenever you’re out of office. Businesses can divert their existing business number and manage where calls ring too, field calls between your team, and gain professional answering support whenever they need it.

Designed for iPhone and Android to target the micro / start-up market. The featured app transforms the customers mobile device into a feature-packed phone system so that they can manage and direct their calls on the go. Moneypenny also required a client portal for customers to view their calls listings, voicemails and re-routing.

Working from the requirements document I developed a clear site architecture to ensure both the portal and mobile app were easily navigable. Key user journeys and wireframes were explored and captured to help us focus our design efforts on the needs of the user.

Discovery and research

Together we collaborated to define and build a minimal viable product. We explored key business and user requirements through several team workshops. These were then logged and prioritised in terms of importance to both the business and end user. This helped us define the shape and scope of what we were trying to design.

Based on the wireframes that we developed and the learnings from the testing stage we designed a set of components and key templates to communicate the potential look and feel of the experience.

The result

After creating an experience that could serve the various functions in the right way, we needed to bring a fresh look and feel to both the app and the portal. Bringing structure to their new platform was key – laying out clearly & concisely their services, whilst articulating the features & benefits.

We created a complete design system outlining all the brand elements and components across all screen sizes. On top of this we rolled out an entire front-end templating framework for their in-house developers.

The end product helped businesses take control of their calls and ensure they were always delivering the best possible service. From setting up call paths to making outbound calls, the app couldn’t be simpler.
